Love him or hate him, you've got to admit the guy has heart. On the football field, he's a force to be reckoned with. Off the field, he's even more of a force. Although I'm not a team fan, I'm a fan of his. I love watching any athlete who gives his all. And JJ Watt is one of those.
I remember the first time I watched him play. I thought, "Holy SHIT! This guy is gonna change the Houston Texans forEVER!" Even as a rookie, you could see that fire in his eyes. That sheer tenacity. And determination. And selflessness. The guy is a BEAST.
Off the field, JJ Watt has always been active in his community. He believes in giving back. He believes the adage "with great success comes great responsibility". He LIVES compassion. Unless, of course, you happen to be a quarterback for the other side. Then...well, let's just say that JJ takes his job pretty seriously.
All football aside, today is for sharing. On Sunday, JJ Watt opened fundraiser to help the people of Texas. His first goal was a mere $200,000. HE donated the first $100,000. Within hours, the goal had been surpassed and he raised the number to $1M. By Thursday (today), it has surpassed TEN MILLION DOLLARS. Still, more is needed. There are SO many people who need help. And, if the recent past is any indication of what President Bonehead is going to do, it's pretty obvious that it's going to be the PEOPLE of this country who must chip in and do their part. So, on behalf of JJ Watt, and ALL the people of Texas, here is the link to JJ's fundraiser. Any amount will make a difference. $5, $50, $500....whatever you can do. Just, PLEASE, DO (if you are able).
My heartfelt thanks to JJ Watt for his heart AND his efforts. And to all the people in Texas...we're with you! Hang tough. Know that there are millions of people who are willing to help. And help we shall.
