It's In OUR Hands

Dear Citizens of Planet Earth ~

Today I'm going to do something I've never done.

I'm going to share some thoughts about the United States Presidential Election. To ALL of you. Because, like it or not, this crap affects ALL of us. Not just the people in the U.S. The entire world is affected by what happens here in November. Like it or not, politics here touch the lives of people across the globe.

Before I go any further, let me say, I LOATHE politics. I have done my puny-human best to avoid all discussion on the topic because, as most of you know, I believe one is best off focusing on those things that one wishes to create more of. Joy is, of course, at the very top of that list. Along with Love, Hope, Kindness, Compassion, Gratitude, and Personal Evolution. I keep my mind occupied with those things that make me happy, and do my best to make the world a better place for anyone who crosses my path.

Second, I do not watch "the news". If you've been here for any length of time, you already know how I feel about that nonsense. Let's just say, it isn't "news" at all. It's just the same garbage, over and over, filled with fear and hatred and oppressive energy that is meant to keep the general population frozen in terror.

NOT my cup of tea.

I believe strongly in the power of intention. I also believe that every human on this planet has the right to create the Life of their choosing. Societal "rules" do not apply to my world. I take care to treat ALL Beings as kindly as I can. I do my best to help others, even if it's as small a thing as helping an elderly or disabled person load their groceries into their car. Or open a door. Or let a maniac cut in front of me. Or buy a sandwich for the homeless Vet on the corner. Whatever I am able to do to let someone know that they are not alone, nor are they invisible.

EVERYONE matters.

I do realize that everyone is entitled to their beliefs and opinions, regardless of how stupid I happen to think they are. Just because I don't agree doesn't mean I'm right or you're wrong. Like my daddy used to say, "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one." Crude. But true. Which leads me to the topic of this missive:

Neither of the two candidates who have won the nominations for their respective parties are even close to being what I consider to be "good choices". I'd have preferred to see Bernie Sanders on the ballot, instead of Hilary Clinton. As for Donald Trump....I don't even know where to begin. If you were to look up the definitions of sociopath and/or psychopath, you'd see why his presence in this election is so terrifying.

The following is an excerpt from Psychology Today magazine:

Sociopaths tend to be nervous and easily agitated. They are volatile and prone to emotional outbursts, including fits of rage. They are likely to be uneducated and live on the fringes of society, unable to hold down a steady job or stay in one place for very long. It is difficult but not impossible for sociopaths to form attachments with others. Many sociopaths are able to form an attachment to a particular individual or group, although they have no regard for society in general or its rules. In the eyes of others, sociopaths will appear to be very disturbed. Any crimes committed by a sociopath, including murder, will tend to be haphazard, disorganized and spontaneous rather than planned.
Psychopaths, on the other hand, are unable to form emotional attachments or feel real empathy with others, although they often have disarming or even charming personalities. Psychopaths are very manipulative and can easily gain people’s trust. They learn to mimic emotions, despite their inability to actually feel them, and will appear normal to unsuspecting people. Psychopaths are often well educated and hold steady jobs. Some are so good at manipulation and mimicry that they have families and other long-term relationships without those around them ever suspecting their true nature.
When committing crimes, psychopaths carefully plan out every detail in advance and often have contingency plans in place. Unlike their sociopathic counterparts, psychopathic criminals are cool, calm, and meticulous. Their crimes, whether violent or non-violent, will be highly organized and generally offer few clues for authorities to pursue. Intelligent psychopaths make excellent white-collar criminals and "con artists" due to their calm and charismatic natures.
Now, if you've watched/seen/or heard him speak, even just once, you will easily be able to recognize the characteristics described above. The guy has not one iota of conscience. He doesn't give a shit about who he hurts or how his actions affect others. His history speaks for itself. He's left a trail of broken lives in his wake, and still he continues to promise that he "alone, can make America great again".
WHUT????
As for Mrs. Clinton, while I'm not a fan, I know her record. Regardless of her past mistakes or errors in judgment, she has devoted her life to public service. Nobody's perfect. Not even the President of the United States. The question isn't whether or not she's going to keep her word. Politics is, after all, mostly a bunch of rhetoric aimed at convincing people to join the party. We all know "they" can't be trusted (mostly). We all know that what's promised is usually not delivered (although there have been a few who gave it their best shot). None of those things are, at this point, what needs to be our focus right now. What we need to SEE CLEARLY is that if Mr. Trump gets elected, the entire world is going to suffer.
{Again....just my opinion.}
So rather than try to sway you or your choice, I will ask you to do this instead:
Go re-read what the Electoral College is and how it works. THEN, keep in mind that if you DON'T vote (because you hate them both), you are, by virtue of the absence of your vote, giving Mr. Trump an edge. NO vote does not mean somebody isn't going to win.
Do you get that?
I'll say it again:
IF YOU DON'T VOTE, SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU HATE THEM BOTH, YOU ARE GIVING THAT PSYCHOPATH A BETTER CHANCE OF STEALING THIS ELECTION.
If you do nothing else, please, for the love of all that's sacred, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Don't look for your information on CNN or FOXNews, or in the papers. Get online if you must, and see what each of these candidates have actually DONE in their lives. Look at their records. GET THE FACTS as best you can without using news outlets. Because those outlets are controlled by the very same people who wish to keep us in the dark. They don't care about TRUTH. They care only that the VERY few in power maintain that power and oppress all the rest of us. This is not rhetoric. Like I said, do your homework.
If the American people don't get off their asses and take part in this election, we are all in for unimaginable horrors. And, by the way, while you're at it, pick up a book about Adolf Hitler and HOW he did what he did. You think I'm being dramatic? Think again. It's time for us to stop being so fucking lazy and use the brains we've been given. Don't think, not for one second, that it doesn't matter.
It does.
Lastly....(big sigh here), I wish to apologize for not being able to wind my way to the JOY in this blog. I've always done my best to keep it about that. About CHOOSING JOY. Today, however, I just can't find it. It makes my heart break to know that I can't find a way to lift you, even just a little. But I promise, I will NOT do this again. I've said my part, and from here on out, I shall focus, as I always do, on the possibilities that will lead us all to a more peaceful, loving, joyful path.
