finding your groove under the covers....

A while back I posted a little something about "go to sleep with it, wake up with it". I'd suggested that if,when you lie down to sleep, you take a few moments to think about all the good stuff in your world, you'd likely wake up with all that good stuff running through your fuzzy morning brain. More importantly, you'd also wake up with a terrific attitude of gratitude. In my world, that is the way to start the day. That, and a curly white dawg who wags his little nubby the moment you stir from sleep. It just doesn't get any better than that!

Well, as it turns out, I went to sleep last night with a whole bunch of crap flyin' around in my head. Much as I tried, I somehow didn't turn that noise off. So it wasn't any big surprise that I woke up with that same ruckus in my head this morning. DRAT! {Because} I already know that when this happens, my day is likely to turn out less than stellar, I decided to lie there for a bit and get my groove in order first. I keep an MP3 player next to my bed that stores one of  my very favorite meditations. A very handy little gadget for the bedside. Don't even have to get out from under the covers. Add to that the fact that my Bruzer's bed is on the floor right next to my own bed, and it makes for one convenient attitude adjustment.

I slid my arm out from under the covers and hung my hand down the side of the bed. He came right over and started licking it, wagging that adorable nubby and doing is morning yoga stretches (you outta see it! It is so darned cute it brings tears to my eyes!). I let him kiss me for a bit and then patted the bed for him to jump up. Then I put the covers over both of us and let him settle in. After much kissing and sweet little noises (he makes these little grunty sounds that just tickle the bejeebers outta me), I turned on the player and got focused on my breathing. Breath in, breath out....slowly...breath in, breath out. Bruzer does this with me too. It's the COOLEST thing! I laid there for 15 minutes, breathing and feeling him next to me, eyes closed and the warmth of his breath on my neck. Breath in, breath out....

When the segment ended, I opened my eyes and had such a huge grin on my face, it made me laugh out loud. (is there any other way to laugh???) He started wigglin' his little butt, happy to hear me happy. We laid there for a few more minutes, just giggling and snuggling and thrilled to have a new day together.

And so it would appear that even if ya do wake up in a funk, you can still find your groove. Trick is to do it before you get out of bed. Take the time. I promise you, it'll make all the difference in the world!

Here's to a MARVELOUS MONDAY!

Bruzer is a real cutie. Who could be in a bad mood while looking at that face?
